Ysgol Gynradd Gymraeg Calon Y Cymoedd is a Primary school situated in Betws, Bridgend South Wales. We provide bilingual education for Cwm Garw and Cwm Ogwr and the surrounding area.
Our school moto at Ysgol Gynradd Gymraeg Calon Y Cymoedd is that everyone matters and everyone achieves. We offer a happy and caring environment where your child can feel safe and secure. The education we provide is carefully matched to the learning needs of individual children, pupil voice is of great importance to us. Our aim is to provide a warm, welcoming and happy environment where pupils are encouraged to achieve their full potential and develop into responsible citizens and life long learners.

Please take time to read the very important letter regarding the Red Weather Warning that has been sent to you over the school app.
After careful consideration of all available information, including Met Office guidance, advice from the Local Authority and Welsh Government, discussions with local headteachers, and support from the Chair of Governors we have made an informed decision to fully close the school on Wednesday and Thursday this week.
We want to be clear that this decision has not been taken lightly. Over recent days we have explored and implemented all reasonable adjustments available to us, including those previously communicated to try to maintain safe conditions for pupils and staff. Despite these efforts, the combination of rising temperatures, the layout of our buildings, and the updated Met Office red warning means that we can no longer guarantee a safe learning and working environment.
