Mae gan y Llywodraethwyr rôl heriol yn y gwaith o redeg Ysgol Calon y Cymoedd. Maent yn gyfrifol, nid yn unig am y gwaith cynnal a chadw a gofal am yr adeiladau, ond y cwricwlwm hefyd. Y Llywodraethwyr sydd hefyd yn goruchwylio’r holl drefniadau ariannol. Mae’r Rhiant Lywodraethwyr yn cynrychioli buddiannau y rhieni, a dylid eu cysylltu os oes gennych unrhyw fater yr hoffech ddwyn i sylw’r Corff Llywodraethol. Yr ydym yn ffodus iawn i gael tîm ymroddedig o Lywodraethwyr sy’n cymryd eu cyfrifoldebau o ddifri a hynny yn effeithiol.
Governors have a demanding role in the running of Ysgol Calon y Cymoedd. They are responsible not only for the maintenance and care of the building but also the curriculum. In addition, the Governors oversee all financial arrangements. The Parent Governors represent the interests of the parents, and should be contacted if you have any matters which you wish to be brought to notice of the Governing Body. We are very fortunate to have a dedicated team of Governors who take their responsibilities seriously and effectively.
A Message From The Chair
It gives me great pleasure as Chair of the Governing Body at Ysgol Gynradd Gymraeg Calon y Cymoedd to welcome you to our school. All five of my children have been through the school, both as Calon y Cymoedd or under its previous name, YGG Cwm Garw. It was important to me that my children learned to speak Welsh and embrace that Welshness to carry through with them in their lives. It has been a wonderful experience and a privilege to watch the school grow and develop over the last two decades and to play my part in that progress, now as a governor, and previously as a Parent Forum member, PTA member and also a parent.
I initially joined the governing body as a parent governor and am now in my second term as an LEA governor and I am absolutely committed to doing all I can to help provide the very best education and support for all our children.
At Calon y Cymoedd we recognise that to achieve the best experience and most successful outcomes for our children, we need to maintain a close partnership between the school’s teaching and support team, parents, governors, the local community and of course the pupils themselves.
We aim to create a safe environment where every child has the chance to shine and aspires to be the very best they can and is prepared for a future of possibilities. We strive to provide enriching opportunities and experiences that they may otherwise miss out on. From music lessons, trips to the theatre and STEM sessions just to name a few.
The Calon y Cymoedd Governing Body is made up of staff, community, LEA and parent governors, each bringing a wide range of knowledge and experience to the role. Not all of our governors speak Welsh, but each one understands the importance of the Welsh language and ethos that the school nurtures. All our governors have their own careers and responsibilities outside of the school but each one dedicates their time to ensuring that our school provides a first class education for every child in our care. We understand that the wellbeing of our pupils is the backbone to that education and support the extensive efforts the staff have put in, particularly in the post covid years, to have a holistic approach to education and ensuring pupil wellbeing takes the highest priority.
The governing body is responsible for monitoring and evaluating the performance and effectiveness of the school, ensuring that the budget is managed effectively and for providing support to our excellent teaching and support team. We meet every half term as a whole governing body and also have sub-committees that meet more often to discuss specific areas such as staffing, curriculum and standards, and Health and Safety.
I hope that you love being part of the Calon y Cymoedd family as much as I do, and that your children are happy and enjoy attending this wonderful school.
Kindest Regards
Katie Humphrey
